Short story about the stud farm Rădăuţi

 

The Austrian state has founded the stud farm in Rădăuţi under the name "Landesgestüt- und remontierungs Department in der Bucowina zu Radautz" with the aim to ensure of a high material flow and supply in 1792.

 

 

To this end the Austrian ministry of the army has leased 9810 hectares for 12,257 guilders  and 21 crowns.

At the founding of the stud farm Rădăuţi in 1792, 1400 animals (Moldavian, Russian, Polish Turkish horses) were available.

At the beginning of the first World War the stud farm was taken from Rădăuţi as a possession of the Romanian state with a total area of 3253 hectares. Of the area there were 721 hectares of arable land, 529 hectares of food land, 1294 hectares of pastureland, 464 hectares of forest and 221 hectares edifices, roads and fallow land.

 

At first the breeding in the stud farm was done primitively and without any experience.  Due to cost saving, the construction of the stud farm and the breeding were very neglected.

 

As of the year 1818 the stud farm organized itself and the uncivilized condition was completed, since this time you worked according to attitude principles suitable for manners.

 

The stud farm Rădăuţi had 16 departments in Romania with the head office in Rădăuţi at that time.

 

The first stallions were the base of the stud farm Rădăuţi ,5 Arabian stallions 2 Turkish and the latter became one from Transilvanien and a Barbarino of the squire earl Bethlem from Hungary leave to the stud farm.

 

The first Gidran and Siglavy stallions were imported in 1826.

2 Shagya and El Bedvy became from Mezohegyes and Babolna (from Hungary) as well as also a first one english stallion establishedly in 1842.

 

The stud farm which belongs to Rădăuţi to the stud farm was founded in Lucina with Huţul horses in 1856.

 

The stud farm of the armed forces ministry goes over to the Ministry of Agriculture as a new owner in 1869.

 

There were 1132 animals in the stud farm Rădăuţi in 1881

 

In years 1922 the stud farm of Sâmbăta de Jos (Făgăraş) was, and therefore also the Gidrani horses taken completely to Rădăuţi.
